I typically spend most of my day working within my VDI environment. All of my apps and content are within the virtual desktop. However, from time-to-time, I have to do work on my end point device (typically it is because I’m capturing configuration images from within my home lab). Somehow I need to get the images/videos into my VDI session to complete my work.
In early 2019, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1903 added the ability to copy and paste files and folders between the VDA and endpoint. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V = my good friend. This made a nice improvement than trying to navigate through Windows explorer to my local folder location.

In early 2020, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2003 added the ability to drag and drop files and folders between the VDA and endpoint.

The drag and drop functionality is currently in tech preview. To enable this, you have to
- Use the 2006 version of Workspace app
- Use the 2003 version VDA
- Set the following registry entry within the VDA

Key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CtxDNDSvc
Name: Enabled
Value: 1 (DWORD)
For me, I tend to use copy/paste more than drag/drop. Copy/paste is just faster for me, but it is nice to have options.

Nice. Most of my clients want this turned off but their are a few occasions including myself who need to transfer the odd file.
